It is about a little girl named Lulu who wants a brontosaurus for her birthday. When her parents tell her no, she sets off to go and find one for herself. It has an adorable little song that Lulu sings (I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna gonna get, a bronto-bronto-bronto-bronto-saurus for a pet!) It gets stuck in my head every time I read it! I have used this books to teach several things in my writing workshop such as voice, audience, and point of view. It also teaches some good life lessons about being kind and using good manners. The illustrations are striking, and the kiddos love Lulu and her quest! I think that I got my copy through a scholastic book order, but you can find it at Amazon by clicking on the cover or here.

I love, love, LOVE Judith Viorst!
